Providing Licensed After School Care at PeabodyElementary School
The Final Bell Rings . . . Schools Out, Where Will Your Child Go?
Each day, hundreds of St. Louis kids leave school at the end of the day with no adult supervision. Many of these children are home alone with no structured activities, nutritious meals or awareness of the inherent risks that confront unsupervised children. Northside Community Center, Inc. has joined the St. Louis Mental Health Board (MHB), the St. LouisPublic Schools and ARCHS to develop and expand comprehensive after school programs for elementary school children in the City of St. Louis.
Providing Learning and Fun Activities in A Safe Enviornment.
The STAR Program addresses the parent’s need for structure and safety with the child’s need for learning and fun. Northside Community Center, Inc. is one of several after school programs created by an initial investment from MHB to help it achieve measurable and verifiable outcomes related to youth development.
Inspiring Creativity, Critical Thinking and Interest in Learning.
The STARS Program is a licensed after school program providing activities for up to 60 elementary students. Our objective is to create a learning environment that is supportive, but not duplication, of the school day.
The program provides a balance of free play, structured learning, creative development and concept learning. Our aim is to help each child develop self confidence, independence, and language skills.Lunch and a snack are provided to all children. The teachers are certified in early childhood education and receive 25 hours a year of continuing education.
